Sinking Light (2025)

Dimensions: 210 cm x 90 cm x 240 cm
Materials: wood, PVC pipes, fabric, 121 fish bags, food dye.
Sinking Light  is an immersive installation that invites viewers to experience the sensation of descending into the mysterious depths of the ocean. Through shifting colours and dimming light, the work simulates the journey from the surface to the deep sea, evoking a sense of physical descent. As visitors move through the space, they encounter a dramatic play of light and colour, reflecting the transition from the shallow, sunlit waters to the enveloping darkness of the ocean’s depths.

The installation is created using plastic pet store fish bags, filled with water and dyed with food colouring. These bags are arranged to form a colour gradient, mirroring the loss of light as one sinks further into the sea. Sinking Light is part of an ongoing exploration of deep sea mining, raising awareness about the environmental implications of this increasingly urgent issue.
